The 2017 offseason has been nothing short of a nightmare for the Baltimore Ravens. The team came in with high hopes for the regular season, after finishing with a dismal 8-8 record in 2016. However, the high hopes are being trampled on, as the Ravens continue to struggle with injuries. The Ravens injuries are numerous and include players on both offense and defense. The most recent injury comes today, this time to rookie offensive guard Nico Siragusa. Siragusa, picked in the 6th round of the NFL Draft, went down after running with the first teamers today. A later MRI revealed that Siragusa tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. With such a terrible injury, Siragusa will be out for the entirety of his rookie season.

This was not the only bad news announced today for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens confirmed that tight end Crockett Gillmore would be out for the entirety of the season, with an MCL injury. Another player, undrafted rookie wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo went down with a back injury. He was carted off the field. A bit of good news did come for the Ravens today, as it was announced that rising cornerback Maurice Canady would not miss the season with a knee injury. He may miss some time during the season, but will not miss all of it. At this rate, the Ravens should be happy may only lose him for a short period of time.

The Ravens have seven players who are gone for the season, losing all seven since June 1. Cornerback Tavon Young was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Veteran tight end Dennis Pitta was released after suffering his third major hip injury, this time a dislocated hip. Tight end Dennis Waller was suspended for the season after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Running back Kenneth Dixon tore his meniscus earlier in training camp and is subsequently out for the season. Interior offensive lineman John Urschel decided to retire early, in order to continue his quest to become a Ph.D. Tight end Crockett Gillmore sustained an MCL injury, and now Nico Siragusa tore his ACL, MCL and PCL. The Ravens are in a precarious situation with all of these injuries. They cannot place players on the injury reserve, without risk of losing them next season. This puts their roster in a strained position, with so many players out. Baltimore will likely look to find replacements for many of these players in the coming days.
