Today, the Baltimore Ravens signed offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor and wide receiver Janarion Grant to the practice squad. The Ravens cut both Eluemunor and Grant on Saturday, prior to hosting the Denver Broncos at M&T Bank Stadium. Eluemunor was cut to make room for Robertson Daniel who would provide depth to a thin secondary. Grant was cut after fumbling the ball twice in two games. Grant was replaced with Tim White, who competed for the kick and punt return job during training camp. Both players are relatively young and have talent that the Ravens want to continue to cultivate throughout the year.

Jermaine Eluemunor was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Ravens expected Eluemunor to be capable of being a backup guard with the potential to eventually start. This hope never came to fruition. Eluemunor underperformed when given the chance. Last year when Marshal Yanda suffered a season-ending injury, Eluemunor stepped in, only to underperform and be replaced. During this year’s preseason, Eluemunor again played poorly. He barely made the roster. The Ravens hope that this pick was not a waste, and believe that Eluemunor can develop into a better player soon on the practice squad.

Janarion Grant made the team this year as an undrafted rookie free agent. Although he is a wide receiver, he specializes in kick and punt returns. Grant competed with Tim White during training camp and the preseason for the starting position. Grant won the battle, but his tendency to fumble quickly disabused the Ravens of the notion that he is the solution at kick return. Baltimore replaced Grant with White, who was on the practice squad after being cut from the 53 man roster. Aside from the fumbling issues, the Ravens liked what Grant brings to the table, and want to continue to develop him on the practice squad.
