It’s earlier than most fans hoped, but the Baltimore Ravens are already beginning to shape the 2020 roster. The team announced on Monday the signing of nine players to reserve/future contracts. These future contracts do not take effect until March 14 but bind these players to the Ravens until then.

Here is the list of players signed by the Ravens:

  • LB Aaron Adeoye
  • DB Terrell Bonds
  • OG Will Holden
  • DE Ufomba Kamalu
  • WR Sean Modster
  • DE Michael Onuoha
  • OT R.J. Prince
  • TE Charles Scarff
  • WR Antoine Wesley

These names might look familiar to you, as all were members of the 2019 Ravens offseason roster and/or in-season practice squad.

Each player will now have a second chance to make the Ravens roster, and there is a good chance that a few of them will. It’s early in the offseason cycle, but Baltimore is expected to look for new offensive linemen, linebackers, and wide receivers to add in 2020. Aaron Adeoye, Will Holden, Sean Modster, R.J. Prince, and Antoine Wesley will all get extended looks this offseason. Each of the nine new additions also benefits from being in the Ravens program already. The coaching staff and front office are already acquainted with them, potentially creating an easier path to a roster position. Many of them were 2019 preseason standouts too, one of the biggest reasons the Ravens brought them back in 2020.

There is no guarantee that any of these nine players make the Ravens’ initial roster on the cut day later this year. There is a long road in front of these young players, and each will need to prove himself to the coaching staff and front office in order to make the roster. No matter what happens, though, it will be interesting to watch the storylines unfold this offseason, through free agency, the draft, training camp, and the preseason.
